Directions
The Tattoo Temple is housed in a historic warehouse on the Hembrugterrein in Zaandam, just outside Amsterdam. Once a high-security munitions factory, this industrial monument has been reimagined as a vibrant sanctuary for artists and makers.
How to get here
Public transport
There are two main bus options departing from Zaandam Station:
Bus 64 (Direction Zaandijk Rooswijk):
Get off at the Hembrugterrein stop. It is approximately an 8–10 minute walk from the stop to Valtoren 26.
Bus 456 (direction Assendelft):
Get off at the Middenweg stop. This stop is closer to the central road of the site; follow the signs toward the Valtoren area.
Bike
From Zaandam Station:
You can rent an OV-fiets (public transport bike). It is an easy 10-minute ride.
From Amsterdam:
You can take the free Hempont (F20 ferry) from Hempontplein in Amsterdam West. From the Zaandam side, it is just a 5-minute bike ride to the studio.
Car
Parking:
Use parkinglot P7, which offers free parking and is located on a 2 minutes walk. It is located directly opposite Lab44.
From there walk back a bit over the “Middenweg” and turn right onto the “Valtoren” path (between the grassfields). Follow the road until the end, we are located on the right.
Navigation tip:
Follow the signs for Lab44. Access the site via the Artillerieweg/S152 for the most direct route to the parking area.
